volunteerInterested in a fulfilling volunteer opportunity with a growing, exciting, community-based organization? Janet Wattles Center has many volunteer opportunities available to make use of your talents and skills by asking how you would like to volunteer and finding what best suits your schedule. Some of our current volunteer openings include:

Compeer Program
This invaluable program matches an adult volunteer with a client suffering from a mental illness. Janet Wattles Center currently has more than 50 such pairings, resulting in special friendships, one on one mentoring, guidance and support for the Janet Wattles client. Compeer Kids Program
This program is similar to the adult Compeer program described above, matching an adult volunteer with a child suffering from a mental illness. The adult offers companionship, a listening ear, and a special relationship that the child values and appreciates. Berry Ball Committee
This exciting committee is responsible for planning Janet Wattles Center's major annual gala fundraiser. The annual Berry Ball is held every spring and planning begins the fall beforehand with decisions regarding time, date, location, theme, decorations, raffle, auction items, entertainment, food, ads, program, invitations, and much more! Family Resource Center
The Resource Center is looking for volunteers that are parents who have a child (any age) diagnosed with an emotional disorder before the age of 17. The volunteers would be greeting and supporting other parents. Training is required. Volunteers would also be asked (on an as-needed basis) to help with miscellaneous duties such as copying, organizing library materials, preparation of mailings, etc. Volunteers are also needed to help Respite Care Givers with childcare during evening parent educational courses, support groups and during monthly evening educational presentations. Indirect Volunteer Services (Minimum Age - 15 Years Old)
Volunteers will be asked to perform miscellaneous clerical tasks,  help with fund raising and donation drives, and be a part of our Board of Directors. Please click here if you’re interested in more information about indirect services.

Student Internship Program
The Center can place you in several of our program areas to gain skills. You will work side by side with our professionals who can answer questions you may have about your career choice. Interns will have the opportunity to develop listening and observational skills, gain “hands on” training in supervised group settings, shadow professional staff, and socialize with clients.
