A Place to Grow…

…a special program offered by Janet Wattles Center with a special purpose.

The Silver Lining Club provides a place of support and companionship that helps members regain self-worth, purpose, confidence and recovery through socialization, education, pre-vocational training and employment.

Membership

Anyone with a history of mental illness is welcome to apply for membership in the Silver Lining Club.

Just Like a Work Day

The Club focuses on strengths, talents and abilities of members. The work-ordered day engages members and staff members together in running the Club (cooking, cleaning, clerical tasks, answering phones and greeting newcomers) and parallels normal working hours. Members are not paid for work nor are there any artificial rewards systems.

Return to Work

The Club encourages its members to return to paid work. Through transitional employment, members are placed in a variety of positions in Janet Wattles Center affirmative businesses that pay at least minimum wage. Through competitive and supported employment, Janet Wattles Center Employment Specialists assist members to secure, sustain and upgrade employment in the community.

Recreation and Socialization

Recreational and social programs are offered for membership during evenings, weekends and holidays. The Club is open every day of the year.

Self Help/Mutual Help

The Club provides opportunities for its members to engage in self help groups. These groups encourage recovery from mental illness and emotional problems and the building of a network of mutual help among members.

Funding

The Silver Lining Club is a Janet Wattles Center program. The Center is funded through program service fees, grants from governmental agencies and community contributions. Janet Wattles Center is a United Way Agency.
